Fall 2019

This zine is a collection of photographs taken in 3 different cities: Victoria (Canada), Khobar (Saudi Arabia), and Portland (USA). I am constantly searching for a sense of belonging while I enjoy these places I come across and settle in for a while. Here is an appreciation zine for those 3 cities.

Keep a Place for Me

Late spring/early summer lookbook '17

Keep a Place for Me is a zine that aims to celebrate the people I've chosen to photograph and their authentic style. Shooting this lookbook and putting it together has been so fun not only because the models are incredibly gorgeous, but also because they are my beloved friends whose existence and beauty inspires me everyday. Without them, I wouldn’t have had the sense of belonging that I have in Canada. The title is inspired by a Frank Ocean lyric.

غُربة

November 2016
غُربة, pronounced ghurba, is an Arabic word meaning foreignness of place or the state of being away from one's homeland. Feeling the ghurba usually comes from homesickness. Although, to me, feeling it comes from the realization that this land is as foreign to me as I am foreign to it. I've explored this feeling through photographing the city, and I discovered that I think too much about how much of a foreigner I am in Canada and forget that this foreignness is mutual.

❄ I'm too busy keeping warm to stay angry ❄

December 2016
A warm collection of photographs taken in a cold Canadian winter. Title is from a poem by Emily Kendal Frey: "Winter softens me. The snow blues with anti-slip crystals and I’m too busy keeping warm to stay angry. The long rectangles of memory are shortening and you come more as you were, in bursts— tall, antsy, full of vigor.
